Christine Sturgess . . . .

. . . . . gained solo singing experience in her early years with local amateur dramatic and operatic societies in her home city, Norwich.

She has sung many roles, including Casilda in “The Gondoliers”, the May Queen in “Merrie England”, the Second Lady/Second Witch in “Dido and Aeneas”, and latterly Susanna in “Le Nozze di Figaro” with Opera Experience, under the direction of Norman Beedie, a professor at the Guildhall School of Music.

Christine has also sung soprano and alto solos in many oratorios, such as: Schubert’s Mass in G; Mozart’s “Vesperae Solennes de Confessore” and
C minor Mass; Montiverdi’s Vespers; Haydn’s “Creation”; Faure’s Requiem, Pergolesi’s “Stabat Mater”; Duruflé’s Requiem; Handel’s “Messiah”; Vivaldi’s “Gloria” and Mendelssohn’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream”.

With pianist Nova Teasdale and bass Bill Young, Christine performs regularly as ‘Bel Canto’, and until recently she studied with Diana Stuart, a professional opera singer who trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London and with Tito Gobbi.
