In 1994, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Provincial Masonic Male Voice Choir,
the members decided to form the
Pro Musica Lodge, 21 of the 29 Founders being Choir members.

The objects of the Lodge are to provide a meeting place for musicians in masonry, and to preserve masonic music, of which much exists but is never heard. The late
W Bro Peter Sproule, the first Master, carried out a deal of research into the musical archive at Grand Lodge and provided the Lodge with some excellent examples of the songs Freemasons of yore enjoyed.

The Lodge attracts members from the whole Province of Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire, and beyond, and holds its regular meetings at many different masonic centres. Alliances have been formed with other lodges and masonic bodies with an interest in music, and joint meetings of various kinds are organised.

The Lodge holds its Installation Meeting at Stamford on the first Friday in May, the other regular meetings, in March, September and November, are held at different venues. Lodge members are all performing musicians (though of all levels of ability, and including singers!) or have strong connections with the Liberal Art.
