Opera Experience developed out of Larkshall Productions, a company based in north London, dedicated to training and retraining singers. Through a series of workshops and concerts, the company wrote, developed and produced ‘A Masque for Mozart’ which was performed in London and at the Ramsey Arts Festival.

After becoming Opera Experience the company gained recognition as a full opera company through its performances in the Mary Stuart Performing Arts Centre, Huntingdon, and at the Braunston Festival and became dedicated to bringing opera regularly to the East Midlands and East Anglia.

With funding from the Arts Council for England ‘Arts 4 Everyone’ Lottery fund, a series of workshops was presented in Peterborough and Stamford with Max Stafford-Clark, Director of the touring company ‘Out of Joint’ and ex-director of the Royal Court Theatre, London; Jo Tomalin, Director of Theatre Studies, San Fransisco University and at California State University, ex-student of Jacques le Coq Circus School, Paris; Kenneth Rea, Professor at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London, teaching acting to actors and singers and directing productions, and Sarah Walker CBE, celebrated international operatic and concert singer.
