Extract from Sunday, 9th January, 1983:

An early entry once more ~ I wrote these words in Kings Cliffe. Awaiting J.B. & LH & Vicci. Good to have L Harris back with us, it certainly raises the tone of the conversation. ie "Small talk @ grass roots level!" Vicci being lifted into car must close now.

George got here first, with his scurrilous nonsense.

George is such a modest man! He is trying to bully Harris to buy the beer before his turn! He also displayed his ignorance re sense of direction. He would be better off with a pigeon brain which has built in a lodestone. Geordy Bill explained at length about sewage, sewers & sewerage! As far as H is concerned it's all a load of S..t!! Which reminds me of the dogs. GB says it's the water they drink.

A big argument took place over whether tractors have spare tyres. Harris claimed they had & I said I'd give him one pound for every one he saw if he'd give me one for every one which hadn't. He declined, especially when we came across a tractor on one side of the track and a wheel on the other.

"Does that wheel belong to that tractor?"

Extract from Sunday, 6th March, 1983:

In the car a discussion arose over steam roilways, as the "Flying Scotsman" was journeying from Peterboro' to York, pulled by a steam locomotive. George remarked the long livety of engine drivers, who are noted for their great age, due to breathing coal smoke. We arrived back at the bridges in time to see the train, which was a magnificent sight. We then retired to Y e Olde White Harte, where the bar has been renovated & new lights put in. However, there are compensations, like a big fire and a stripped wood bar.

Extract from Sunday, 13th March, 1983:

No M 2 ~ perhaps she hadn't recovered from being ravished on the dance floor by LH on Friday night!

Harris wonders what Ravished means. He presumes it means "looked after with due care and attention, especially when being driven round the floor."

Extract from Sunday, 27th March, 1983:

When we arrived back at Ufford, our attention was peculiarly drawn to certain persons in a blue Fiat, consisting of one M 2 and her parents, who joined us afterwards in Y e Olde White Harte.
