Extract from Tuesday, 28th December, 1982:
A celebratory day, as L.H. joined us for a short walk round Ferry Meadows.
Returned to my house for some home-brewed, which was too bitter for L.H.
As I write my piece I think of the many recent outings when I thought of Little Harris & recorded some of my thoughts in the Journal. Now the day has arrived and once again he (L.H.) is with us once again.
G
ood to return, Harris enjoyed himself. Little changes ~ still arguing where to go, which routes to take, where to drink, and getting George to stand his round. Today we returned to G.B's establishment.
Extract from Sunday, 9th January, 1983:
A surprising morning, yesterday very cold, forecast today windy and overcast or rain. Instead, mild and even warm when the sun came out for quite some time.
Drove in my Green Rover to Barnack Bridge and walked up to Stamford Mill, where George and I struggled for a quarter of an hour to free some wood from the weir and make it slide down the spillway.
Back in Y e Olde White Harte we were treated to a lecture on fish. "Some cost £3 or £4 each!" said our informant.
"Then there's the chips on top," I added.
Little Harris is back! He reports that his charges have become demented in his absence. Imagine if you can two grown men playing with sticks in the water by the weir at Stamford ~ even lying on their bellies and using dog leads to lasso the sticks. Harris had difficulty in calling them back to their padded cells & will need to exert his authority for the next few weeks before allowing them on their own again.
Extract from Sunday, 16th January, 1983:
Harris tripped over a twig and fell to earth. It happened thus:

Extract from Sunday, 23rd January, 1983:
L.H. absent on a mysterious mission (possibly in the Malvinas?)
We tried to practise L.H's fall, but none of us could get it right.
M 2 found herself a thumbstick ~ she'll have to be very careful, as she's growing like the rest of us.
Bourne Woods ~ lots of tree felling & pruning in evidence. This provided numerous opportunities for practising L.H's trick ~ left foot, right foot, flat on face. Tried very hard but could not manage . . . . trip, hop
In The White Hart: One of our friends ~ "Where's the other one?"
Reply: "You mean where's the other half-one?"
